Community Service
I really believe in serving others and being the hands and feet of Jesus in a small way. I have been blessed to find two terrific non-profit organizations to work with.
Soul 139 is a Christian non-profit organization whose purpose is to serve others and make a difference in the lives of their neighbors. They strive to do this by providing free basic hair care services to the underprivileged in the Charlotte area.
Founded by Kat Crawford, their organization is unique and provides a way to pamper and empower those less fortunate than us. Their goal is to honor each person, renew their feeling of self-worth, and inspire their confidence.
I have volunteered at many of their events, offering chair massages to each of God's children, some who may be recovering from drug abuse, alcohol addiction, homelessness, unfortunate circumstances of life, or people rescued from human trafficking.
The Respite is a non-profit center for grief and hope in Charlotte. In an atmosphere of dignity and respect for the grief process, The Respite helps people, regardless of socio-economic status who have suffered a significant loss in any form, to reclaim a healthy and productive life. They offer professional counseling, support groups, workshops, and Grief Massage, just to name a few.
I was blessed to have found The Respite after the sudden death of my brother, Ricky. There I met Aimee Joy Taylor, the founder of The Institute for Grief Massage. She had received a community service grant for her project "Grief Massage: Traumatic loss outreach at The Respite."
I joined her talented team of therapists to learn Grief Massage. We were then able to participate in a volunteer internship offering Grief Massage to those in need. It is an honor to serve alongside Aimee, who is a pioneer in Grief Massage Therapy.

Prayerful Touch Massage will partner with local churches to offer massage therapy sessions to those who may be in need.
Two grants will be awarded each month.
